SYNOPSIS
This inspiring narrative chronicles the compelling life journey of Fahim
Fazli. Born and raised in Kabul, Afghanistan, Fazli saw his country and family
split apart by revolution and civil war. His mother, older brother, and two
younger sisters fled the totalitarian terror of Communism, but Fahim, his
brother Hares, and his father went years without any word as to their
whereabouts. Finally, the three of them embarked upon a dramatic escape of their
own, trekking for seven days and seven nights through the perils of the Hindu
Kush, eventually making it to Pakistan. They assumed refuges status for two
years, before getting asylum in the United States, where the Fazli family was
finally reunited.

After moving to California, Fazli pursued his dream of becoming an actor,
paying his dues by taking on multiple jobs while working as a movie extra for 15
years. After two unsuccessful arranged marriages with Afghan brides, Fazli
finally found true love with an American woman.

Typecast as a terrorist after the 9/11 attacks, Fazli eventually qualified for membership Screen Actors Guild, and was soon busy with numerous television and movie projects, and worked as Cultural Advisor for Charlie Wilson’s War. In 2009, Fazli left the comfort of his seaside home in Dana Point, California, to serve as a linguist and interpreter in Afghanistan, choosing the most dangerous assignment available—working with the United States Marines in Helmand Province, where the Taliban put a price on his head.

Fahim Speaks is a harrowing story of perseverance and patriotism, and of the special love that one man developed for his adopted country.
